Q. I see that the Archives of the Big Bend has a recording that I want to listen to. Can I check out the record to listen to at home or have a digital version made?
Recordings of musical performances are governed by copyright laws. This allows musicians, performers, composers, and arrangers to maintain their rights as creators. In the United States, copyright law allows an archive to preserve 1-3 copies of a recording. Those archival copies are not to be made available in a digital format or used outside of the archives.
If you would like to listen to the recording, you may set up an appointment to listen to the recording on site.
